Affirmations for a beginner's mind
Have you ever worked with affirmations? I'm finding them quite powerful these days. If you're not familiar, affirmations are statements that express a positive reality you believe in or want to bring about. For me they are vitamins for maintaining creative health. They can help you take that next small step when you're feeling stuck and revive feelings of hope and encouragement when worry or doubt sneak in. Here are a few that are especially good at getting you to embrace the posture of a beginner - a posture that removes the pressure of perfectionism and cultivates playfulness and curiosity.
~ I am willing to make bad art.
~ I delight in new adventures.
~ I choose courage over comfort.
~ I'm in the mood to experiment.
~ I'm learning.
To help them work their magic, I write different affirmations by hand in my journal and repeat them silently in my mind while taking a deep breath. ️ So much of creative living comes down to these simply daily doses of motivation. What keeps you creating and trying new things?
Savoring these late summer nights, ️
