Learn to sew your own clothes and begin building a handmade capsule wardrobe! If you have always wanted to sew your own garments but didn't know where to start, this class is just what you need. In this 3 week course, you will learn new sewing skills such as sewing buttons and buttonholes, and construct a beautiful skirt. (Beyond this Part 2 class, there will be other classes for learning how to make pants and other capsule wardrobe staples.)
In this class, local sewist Julie Gires will guide you through the multiple steps involved in the making of the Justine skirt. You will learn to use a PDF pattern, select the right size for your project, construct the garment and tackle buttons and buttonholes.
Please note that you will need to download the pattern from the pattern designer, source and bring your own fabric and your own sewing machine. If you would like to reserve one of the few machines we have available, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The class is best suited for those who are already comfortable using a sewing machine for very basic seams.
Class will meet Thursday nights Feb 13th, 20th, and 27th. Class Meeting Dates: 3 Thursdays 6:30-9pm

Julie was born and raised in France, where she pursued a carrier in education and science for more than ten years. She taught herself to sew after moving to the US seven years ago, and started building her handmade wardrobe in 2016. She is the mom of two adorable monsters who keep her on her toes, and she is grateful for this practice that allows her to create, grow and take care of herself everyday. Julie truly believes that sewing is a superpower, and that slowly and mindfully building a handmade wardrobe that fits your body, your needs and your tastes is a liberating and empowering process.
