Learn the art of Japanese gift wrapping for a zero waste and high design holiday season. Bring home two Shibori furoshiki cloths to start your wrapping.

In this workshop, we will:

  • learn the history, cultural significance, and many uses of Japanese wrapping with Furoshiki cloths
  • practice 12 techniques for wrapping any shaped package from simple boxes to wine bottles
  • decorate using seasonal foliage and other zero waste materials

The following supplies are included:

  • two Yuzu & Rose hand dyed shibori Furoshiki cloths
  • a guide and diagrams of wrapping techniques
  • repurposed and organic decorating materials

Please bring*:

  • if you have a specific gift you're looking to wrap, please bring it!
  • if you have material at least 20"x20" that you'd like to practice wrapping with, bring that too
  • *Packages and items to practice wrapping will be provided, so it is not necessary to bring anything!

You will go home with:

  • knowledge and skills to create beautiful fabric-wrapped gifts
  • two Yuzu & Rose hand dyed shibori Furoshiki cloths

Kaitlin studied the ancient art of shibori in both Hawaii and Japan before relocating to Santa Cruz, California. A mother of two and owner of the Yuzu & Rose line of Shibori home and family products, she enjoys the magical process of hand dyeing, the challenge of creating natural, plant-based dyes of her own, and the joy of sharing her products and techniques with the community.
